My Digital Studio

My Digital Studio is an intuitive digital design software featuring Stampin' Up! 's® exclusive artwork, colors, and templates. This is my first effort using it. I decided to
make a 12"x12" page with red riding hood DSP in the back ground. It is an exciting new tool I hope to get better at using! Imagine making pages right where your photos are! I choose Night of Navy and Chocolate Chip Accents. It was pretty easy and I am satisfied with the results. I still need to figure out a lot of the ins and outs of the program but it looks fairly easy to produce high quality scrapbook pages and cards and more! Stay tuned!

Cards for Cancer Class July 2011

We always have so much fun! A great group of ladies gather in South Surrey, British Columbia and spend the day stamping away making pretty cards with a variety of techniques. It's mostly seniors so it's always a pleasure to see the smiling ladies who love to make cards and the snacks and prizes are always fabulous. The cost is $25 donation to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and with a $10 fee for supplies and believe me it's worth it. If you want to attend or donate prize items you better act fast because it's on Wednesday July 6th and i know the cards have been in the works since the beginning of the year so the anticipation is part of the excitement. The grand prize this year is a 5 piece set of lovely luggage. R.S.V.P. is an absolute must www.newwestmommmy.stampinup.net

Weekend Scrapbooking Retreat April 8-10th

Come and join us for an entire weekend of scrapbooking or card making. Park your car in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, and bring your totes down to the dock, where a boat will pick us up and take us to a remote , secluded retreat on the Indian Arm. Camp Jubilee is located along the stunning Indian Arm on oceanfront property. You will share table space to scrapbook on with a friend in the main hall, where all our food will be also served. Cabins sleep up to 10 people and are fully heated with adjacent washrooms with sinks. A nearby washroom also has showers. There are also rooms available in the lodge. To reserve a room, please send a cheque to register a.s.a.p.
The weekend includes a Friday night snack, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday morning. There is a free make "n" take and fabulous & affordable, optional workshops to sign up for! Bring a friend, or a group, or just come by yourself. You are sure to have a fabulous time, doing what you love, with a great group of ladies!
The boat leaves Friday at 5:30 p.m. and gets back around 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

a couple cards that feel like love...

I love the Stampin'Up! glass glitter and had a bit of fun with it on this card! I like using Crystal Effects to adhere it. I also used a the Greet Card Kids stamp set, Black Satin Ribbon and my Big Shot for the polka dot background and to cut the circle and scallop. I made a ton of these until my glass glitter was just about empty! Valentine's Day is long gone but these cards make it less than a distant memory for me.

I could not resist throwing in a photo of my six month old with her 2 year old sister hamming it up for the camera.

I hope you like this card made with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and my brayer using Real Red, Silver and Whisper White Cardstock. I also used the Decorative Label Punch with the stamps from Charming and Artistic Etchings.

comfortably. Each person will share a rectangular table with a friend,
and sit in a group with more friends, or by themselves- whichever you
request. There are ongoing optional workshops, which you can sign up for
at the time of registration.

You will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, slippers (no shoes allowed inside the hall) and all scrapbooking supplies you want!! If there is something you are not sure about bringing along, just ask! Also, if you want to bring any munchies, that is fine! There is a large refrigerator in the main hall which we can use!
HOW DO I GET THERE?
The boat will leave Deep Cove at 5:00 p.m.
We leave camp at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and return to Deep Cove around 1:30 p.m.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
If you already know that you can come that weekend, just send an email to tell us you can come! A confirmation email will be returned and your name added to the list. Send a cheque for $156.80 to secure your spot.

I think I was feeling nostalgic for Ruby Red, River Rock, Soft Sky and Bayou Blue when I started this set. I wanted to create something not at all feminine but it didn't turn out as particularily masculine. I only had scraps of River Rock and was lacking in matching ribbon as well so it was a bit more challenging than I anticipated. I planned to use a the inks that matched and a stamp set I really like and have been hanging on to since Spring 2008 {pictured below} but once I got my Big Shot and my Stars #2 Die out all the plans changed. This set was offered with a 5"x5" little album and papers and cardstock stickers in Pumkin and Olive and Bashful Blue which I also still have a few pieces left from now that I think about it. I feel some more inspiration coming on. I enjoyed the kit so much because I made a lovely little album for my elderly cousin Eda with a collection of photos from her yearly family picnics. I put the finishing touches on it in the car on the way there and was so glad because that was the only year I can remember that it rained and had not spent that much time inside her home before. I love memories so I will add a photo of the cover of the album too! We just had that yearly picnic a few weeks ago and her sons built her a big beautiful covered picnic area just in time! See how the stamps in the set would have been a good match to the Western Sky dsp!

A Colour Renovation! This is super exciting news! All the colour families have been revamped with 5 NEW beautiful colours, Returning In Colours. Of course some of our favorite colours will be retiring. Our new colours are so rich and deep. One exciting part of this Colour Renovation is the re-naming of one of my very favorite cardstock colours! Kraft cardstock has a yummy name now! CRUMB CAKE! I was asked to prepare two cards with flower themes for a friends bridal shower last weekend. We needed ones we could do most of the preparations ahead of time so ladies could slap them together quickly as although the bride loves scrapbooking and cardmaking it was not the focus of the shower. The shower had a garden theme and the decorations were very pretty in red like roses and a dark purple. I had fun making up the kits for these sweet and simple cards that could be put together and stamped by beginners and loved by novices as well. The great thing was I was able to bring minimum supplies and not worry about sales and just enjoy the company of the other women and look forward to stamping with them. Several of them had experience and were past customers. I love the colours and am pleased with how the cards turned out.

Enough about the 12 Days of Holidays Sale and on to the cards I have been making mostly in my head for a few weeks inspired by Craftin'Caro who blog you can visit here. Dunja turned me on to this hostess level one set from the Holiday mini catalogue! As a rule I don't get super excited about the hostess sets because it disappoints alot of my friends and customers when they find out they need to host a party to get the stamps. You can however collect orders from your friends or families to equal $200 or more and get hostess benefits that way. I would highly recommend that route. But back to the cards. I used the following three colours of cardstock and inks: Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery with a dash of Kraft cardstock a dusting of Whisper White Craft Ink. I also used clear and white embossing powders with Versamark. For accessories I used silver cord, my pokey thing{some call it an awl}, my Stampin'Up! mat pack with the fresh favorites buttons and a corner rounder. I fooled around and made two or three sets with different greetings and different placement of the trees, cardstock and some with buttons, gems and rhinestone brads. I love buttons! Patrick of course critiqued them and said it didn't look enough like a forest and they apparently need more trees and some snow. Sorry Pat I am trying to keep it simple so I am not getting out the flocking! All images Stampin'Up! I hope you like them as much as I do. I used the scanner to capture the cards but they didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. Next time I will use the camera.

Instructions
Basic Gift Wrap
1.Wrap small presents using Holiday Lounge Designer Series paper.
2.Embellish with strips of coordinating card stock, scalloped using Scallop Edge punch.
3.Tie ribbons around presents using the bow techniques from the July 2008 issue of Stampin' Success.
Ruffle Embellishment
1.Punch four circles from Whisper White card stock using 1-3/4" Circle punch. Set one circle aside.
2.Score across each of the three remaining circles using bone folder and ruler, creating a starburst pattern.
3.Pierce hole in center of starburst using paper-piercing tool.
4.Cut slit along one score line to pierced hole. Fold each circle in accordion along score lines to create fans.
5.Apply Tombow Multi Purpose adhesive to outside (curved) edge of fans, and apply Silver glitter to edge. Allow glitter to dry thoroughly before continuing.
6.Take one fan, and adhere one end section to the end section of a second fan, overlapping two folded sections (a "v" shape) to ensure that the pieces are securely fastened together. The unfastened ends of your two circles will overlap, creating a spiral.
7.Adhere one end of final fan to unfastened end at top of spiral, overlapping two folded sections to ensure that pieces are securely fastened together.
8.Arrange spiral so that it lays flat to create a ruffled, two-layer circle. You may have to trim off a section of the ruffle if the direction of the folds will not allow the ruffle to lay flat.
9.Apply Tombow Multi Purpose adhesive across surface of remaining Whisper White circle, and adhere ruffle to circle.
10.To finish embellishment, stamp snowflake image in Taken with Teal ink on Whisper White card stock, and cut out. Attach Clear Rhinestone brad center of snowflake. Adhere snowflake to center of ruffle using two layered Stampin' Dimensionals.
11.Adhere embellishment over top of tailored bow using two layered Stampin' Dimensionals

Instructions
1.Stamp greeting on bottom half of Ruby Red card stock. Cover image with White Stampin' Emboss powder, and shake off excess. Heat emboss.
2.Stamp polka-dot image in Ruby Red ink on top half of Ruby Red card stock.
3.Stamp three stocking images in Old Olive, Ruby Red, and Taken with Teal ink, and cut out stockings. Adhere over polka-dots.
4.Sew across top of stockings.
5.Fold Old Olive polka-dot ribbon in half, and staple to back side of stocking piece
6.Adhere Old Olive strip and Tempting Turquoise button to stocking piece.
7.Adhere stocking piece to Ruby Red notecard.

I love this set Just Beclause it reminds me of all the fabulous collage type images such as the ones seen on cards in the Stamper's Sampler magazine of which I am a big fan of.

Ingredients:
•Whisper White Cardstock: 1" x 2-1/4"; 1-1/4" x 2-1/2"; 1-1/4" x 3"; 1-1/2" x 2-1/4"; 3" x 3"

Instructions
1.Stamp santa image in Jet Black StazOn ink on Whisper White card stock (3" x 3"). Watercolour using Classic Stampin' Pads and Aqua Painter. Cut out, and tape to toothpick.
2.Stamp trees in Old Olive and Taken with Teal ink on Whisper White card stock (1-1/4" x 2-1/2"; 1-1/4" x 3"; 1-1/2" x 2-1/4"). Cut out each tree, and tape to toothpick.
3.Fill apothecary jar a quarter of the way with filler, and stick toothpicks into filler to create a snowy scene.
4.Tie Old Olive 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon around top of jar.
5.Ink December 25 image using Stampin' Write markers, and stamp image on remaining piece of Whisper White card stock (1" x 2-1/4"). Colour portions of ornaments using Classic Stampin' Pads and Aqua Painter. Tuck card stock under ribbon knot, and secure using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I love this countdown to Christmas Calendar I made with Chris at Cherish the Thought in Port Moody. We used a drill! such a thrill. I am working on another one for a Christmas gift with the Frosty Day papers, Felt Flurries and Chocolate Satin Ribbon shown here. So far I have cut the papers and sprayed my box with homemade Shimmer mist! Love the colours! Guess what? All these products are on our Clearance Rack right now as well. Watch and see!

This was very similar to a card i made last year. It looks good with Stampin'Up!'s stretchy silver cord. I love what you can do with the scallop circle. I had it in my mind to do it but getting it right took some doing. It is all about math and i guess that isn't my strong point so Patrick helped me and we realized you had to wrap the scallop after counting five bumps continually. I like the look and it reminds me of a spirograph!

My favorite Christmas Design

I used the Stampin'Up! set Friends 24/7 which I wanted for so long. I added a half back pearl from the pretties kit to the image and some of the flocked red paper from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Paper. It is velvety and raised! I love it! Also I added some of the Olive and White taffeta ribbon from the Mistletoe Ribbon Originals, both out of the Holiday Mini Catalogue. I added a layer of green cardstock behind the Whisper White at the last minute to tie the colour in to the rest of the card. As soon as I got my dsp I realized the pattern was similar to the image in the 24/7 stamp set! It took me a month to get around to making this card but I was rolling it around in my mind for weeks. I hope you like it.

Here's one of my swaps I made in August for Convention. I used Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore with White Glossy Cardstock and Stazon, spounges, taffeta ribbon, a corner rounder and made a tag that slid out. The stamp set is Fresh Cuts 111634. I love this stamp set because it has such a collage type of image and is very forgiving. Unfortunately I was only able to make about 20 of them. I got so many lovely cards back. This cute little box was made at the Stampin'Up! Convention in August in Salt Lake City, Utah. After it's cut and assembled the Retro Remix wheel was rolled along the edge in Old Olive ink. The 1/2 inch circle punch was used to take a notch out of the side so you know which side to open it on. The other side is fashioned like a hinge. Use sticky strip to put it together and then tie a bit of melon mambo ribbon around it. On the whisper white piece we used the Hello Again Stamp set and stamped the flower on scrap and cut it out, added a dimensional added a rhinestone brad and viola. Glitter can be added for additional bling!

I used Versamark ON the Impressionabilities and then ran it through the big shot and sprinkled silver embossing powder! I layered it on Basic Gray cardstock and tied a Whisper White Taffeta ribon in a bow. The sentiment is from the Stampin'Up! set Grateful Greetings. I learned this technique at Making Memories in Burnaby.

For this card I used Versamark to stamp the flourish on Creamy Caramel cardstock. Then I layered a small piece of Dream Street Papers on a piece of Basic Black Cardstock with a scalloped edge piece of Kraft cardstock along the top. I tied a piece of black satin ribbon and stamped the sentiment on another piece of Kraft {with Close to Cocoa and Soft Suede inks} and stuck it together. I have run out of Stampin'Dimentionals but I think that would improve the card. I used the Friends 24-7 stamp set from Stampin'Up!

I’m departing from my usual approach and providing a pattern for that, because it was kind of different. I got the pattern from a good friend.
